How to Install and Use Silicon Image Sil1364 Orion ADD2-N DVI Card
If you have a computer with an Intel chipset that supports Serial Digital Video Out (SDVO) technology, you can use a Silicon Image Sil1364 Orion ADD2-N DVI card to add a DVI output to your system. This card is an adapter card that plugs into the PCI Express x16 port of your motherboard and converts the SDVO signals from the Graphics and Memory Controller Hub (GMCH) to DVI signals that can be sent to a digital display or monitor. This way, you can enjoy high-quality video on a second display without using an external graphics card.
In this article, we will show you how to install and use the Silicon Image Sil1364 Orion ADD2-N DVI card on your computer. We will also provide some troubleshooting tips in case you encounter any issues.
Installation Steps
Before you begin, make sure your computer is powered off and unplugged from the power source. Also, make sure you have a Phillips screwdriver and an anti-static wrist strap or mat.
Open the case of your computer and locate the PCI Express x16 slot on your motherboard. It is usually the longest slot near the processor. If you are not sure which slot it is, refer to your motherboard manual.
Remove the metal bracket that covers the slot on the back of the case. You may need to unscrew it or slide it out depending on your case design.
Align the Silicon Image Sil1364 Orion ADD2-N DVI card with the slot and gently push it down until it snaps into place. Make sure the card is firmly seated and secured with a screw or a latch.
Connect a DVI cable from the card to your digital display or monitor. Make sure the cable is properly inserted and tightened.
Close the case of your computer and plug it back into the power source. Turn on your computer and monitor.
Driver Installation
The Silicon Image Sil1364 Orion ADD2-N DVI card does not require any special drivers to work with your Intel chipset. However, you may need to update your Intel Graphics Media Accelerator driver to enable SDVO support and configure your display settings. To do this, follow these steps:
Go to https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html and download and run the Intel Driver & Support Assistant tool. This tool will scan your system and detect any outdated or missing drivers for your Intel products.
If the tool finds any updates for your Intel Graphics Media Accelerator driver, click on Download and install them. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process.
Restart your computer if prompted.
Right-click on an empty area of your desktop and select Graphics Properties from the menu. This will open the Intel Graphics Control Panel.
Click on Display > Multiple Displays. Here you can see your primary display (usually labeled as Built-in Display) and your secondary display (usually labeled as Digital Display).
Select Extend Desktop Mode from the drop-down menu. This will allow you to use both displays as one large desktop area.
You can also adjust the resolution, orientation, position, and color settings of each display according to your preference. Click on Apply when you are done.
Troubleshooting Tips
If you encounter any problems with using the Silicon Image Sil1364 Orion ADD2-N DVI card, here are some possible solutions:
If your secondary display is not detected or does not show any image, make sure the DVI cable is properly connected and secure. Also, make sure your monitor is turned on and set to the correct input source.
